ABSTRACT

This first article is not intended to be read by many people. In fact, I am mainly writing it for my own accountancy. Anyway, let us see in what this site will consists, and how we will all be able to benefit from it.

What will I never write about here ?

Let us start by defining the things that you shall never see on this site. By clarifying the negative first, the remaining positive will more easily stand.

1.

Anything I do not genuinely mean.

2.

Explicitly political opinions that could play against me long-term.

3.

Mainstream ideas that are already flooding the Internet.

4.

AI-generated garbage.

5.

Too specific and time-bound topics that would eventually become "deprecated".

What will I publish here ?

The main content I will publish on this sites are articles, mainly technical. I will try to focus on topics related to computers and technology.

How will this website help me ?

This website is absolutely not a mean to an end. In fact, I have decided to engage in this project for what I find to be very good reasons. Look, I am an efficient (e.i. somewhat "lazy") person. If this project does not serve me good purposes, I will just terminate it. Therefore, if you can read this sentence, it means that I am indeed currently benefiting from it in one way or the other. So here are some goods I will gain from having this website :

Firstly, this site will act as a landing page for my businesses. That is to say, I will be able to redirect people to it for them to understand rapidly why I do. Thus, it has to actually be presentable. But even if it must look "professional", I refuse to make it an nth Material Design clone with a dummy single-page and a link to some GitHub account. I will strive to keep it authentic, and for the love of God lightweight , thus fast (React.js out the window).

Secondly, most articles will allow me to pre-work an idea or a thought. And some of them will eventually lead to a "higher-level" work such as a YouTube video. Because you must understand that no one on Earth can make serious money off of a blog site. Money is made by selling products, or by making millions of people on social media consume your content.

Thirdly, the practice of programming and maintaining this site will obviously lead me (as it has already done) to learn a lot of different skills related to system administration and web programming. Using low-level tools and administrating your own private server increase the range of things to learn, which is a desired byproduct. Here are some examples of the skills I will happen to master :

1.

Text editing in terminal with Vim

2.

Document formatting with groff

3.

Web programming with PHP and PostgreSQL

4.

Front-end with HTML/CSS

5.

Server administration with Linux (Debian) and NGINX

6.

English writing (duh)

How will this website help you ?

I will try my best to update this blog as often as possible. I hope you will be able to find original ideas that will make you reflect on your way of looking at technology. Some articles will be designed as highly educational. Others will be more opinionated to help you see things in ways you have not thought of before.

Thank you, Oriano
